Where to taste Mělník wine
The slopes above the confluence have been planted with vines for centuries. Two places to start with.
Mělník is one of the best-known wine towns in Bohemia. Legend says Emperor Charles IV had vines brought here from Burgundy — whatever the truth, wine is part of the town's character.
The chateau cellars
The Jiří Lobkowicz wine cellars are right under the chateau, so a tasting fits perfectly into a walk through the old town.
Bettina Lobkowicz Winery
A little further from the centre, on the way back towards the house, is the Bettina Lobkowicz winery.
Wine harvest festival
Every September the town celebrates the grape harvest with a festival. If you plan to come for it, book early — it is the busiest weekend of the year.
